Fingerprinting Kit

c. 1940-1970

Constable George W. Cowan last used this fingerprinting kit, which looks to have been designed by the Royal Mounted Canadian Police (R.C.M.P.).

Many tools for dusting and lifting prints are in this kit, including mercury, chalk and cadmium yellow.

Within the kit are many little treasures including personal letters between professionals, a booklet 'Finger Prints in Relation to Crime' by the R.C.M.P. in 1934, as well as a letter written in 1963 from R.C.M.P. Superintendent C.W. Spears of the Identification Branch to all Fingerprint Contributors.
