Ottawa Police Service announces new public rewards policy
At a press conference on October 7, 2011, Ottawa Police announced details of a new Public Rewards policy, which enables the Ottawa Police Service to offer monetary rewards of up to $100,000 for information leading to arrests in unsolved files.

The policy relates to cases of homicide, other crimes against persons, the location of missing persons and significant property crimes.

Under the new policy, a monetary reward may be used when an investigation reaches a point where new information is needed to advance the investigation.

Investigative Sections are currently reviewing unsolved files to see which cases may qualify for the offer of a reward under the new policy.

Anyone with information in any of these cases is asked to call the Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Section at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
